Mercedes-Benz stand construction work during Falsterbo Horse Show

Falsterbo Horse Show is one of Europe's largest horse races. It is arranged every year for one week in July and is visited by more than 60,000 people. Adapt has for many years been a technical supplier to Falsterbo Horse Show and one of our recurring customers is Mercedes-Benz, which we have helped with an outdoor stand.

Building a stand at Falsterbo Horse Show is challenging in several ways. The construction must be able to stand outdoors for just over a week on uneven surfaces. It must also withstand wind and rain, and at the same time it must have a nice finish that is durable. When we designed the solution for the Mercedes-Benz stand, we started from the basic design; a roof with a stable pillar solution. The whole solution was drawn up in 3D so that we and Mercedes-Benz could see the end result in advance.

With a 3D drawing you can see in advance what the stand will look like. It is a powerful tool both when designing a solution and when you want everyone involved in the project to be able to see the desired end result in advance.

High demands on strength, wind calculation and ballast

Since the stand was a whopping 27×5 m large with a height of 6 m, it placed high demands on strength, wind calculation and ballast. The design itself was therefore built in truss, a durable and lightweight material that can withstand long spans. The truss was clad with various materials to get the right finish and the ballast, which was required for stability, was transformed into flower pots placed at each leg.

The ballast in the stand was converted into flower pots.
At each pillar of the stand, ballast was needed to give the roof structure stability. The ballast was hidden in large flower pots that became part of the stand design.

In order to show promotional films and put the cars in context, we built our bright 5×2.5 m high-resolution LED screen into the back wall.

The entire structure rested on an adjustable subfloor clad with laminate flooring. To further raise and mark the cars, they were placed on black podiums.

An adjustable subfloor was used to allow the stand to be built outdoors
An outdoor stand requires a stable and even surface. It was created using an adjustable subfloor that was clad with a wooden laminate floor.
