Consumer choice in focus at Optimizely & Valtech's stand at the D-Congress trade fair

We created a booth that brought A/B testing into the real world. The focus was on the visitor and the theme of the day was about making choices. Using invitations, an A and B path and a mystery box, we invited attendees to the booth. Together we were able to conduct a live social experiment right at the fair.

At last year's fair D-Congress 2021 we had the great pleasure to participate in the design and construction of several stands. One of these was Optimizely & Valtechs creative stand with very exciting content. Their ambition was to conduct a live social experiment right at the fair. The aim was to highlight the importance of and how A/B testing works in e-commerce.

The booth brought A/B testing to the physical space

We at Adapt Expo received a request to design and build a booth with a focus on A/B testing. Our task was to create the conditions to conduct a live experiment directly in the booth at the fair. It was with great excitement and commitment that we took on the task. In order to complete the stand and plan everything around it, we needed about a month. In this case, it was not just a question of building the stand itself, but we also had to think about the whole picture and plan everything around it together with our clients. In summary, what we did was to take the A/B testing out into the real world and conduct a live test in the physical space at the fair.

Stands at the fair
Stands at the D-Congresss 2021 exhibition - we helped with everything from concept and design to planning and physical construction.

The stand was planned based on the visitor's choice

The theme of the day was consumer choice. Therefore, the stand was set up with a focus on visitors' decisions. The whole experiment started at the entrance of the fair where Optimizely handed out invitations. The invitations were used to direct visitors to the stand. Already here there was a choice to make because each invitation had an A and a B side. The visitor thus had to choose which way they wanted to go up to Optimizely's stand. The choice was between going either on the branded side A or side B which was not fixed. With the invitation, the visitor could also pick up a "mystery box" from one of two weighing trays. This was recorded digitally and through the collaboration between Optimizely and Valtechs, this could then be collated and analysed. The final result of the visitors' choices is then presented on a large led screen at today's after work where the client also offered bubbles, beer and snacks.

We build the showcases of the future

It's an exciting time ahead of us and it's going to be extra fun to be part of it now that it's back on track. This is because expo stands are an evolving area that is currently undergoing a major change. In order to meet today's demands and expectations, we are creating stands based on creative concepts and with tailor-made technical solutions. Welcome to us to build your physical, digital or hybrid venue, stand or exhibition.
